We hope that you still plan to attend the meeting this year. Please fill out a meeting registration form and return it with your registration fee as soon as possible. Although the program appears to be full, not all the papers have been confirmed. Those who first submit confirmed papers will be given preference on the program. If you find errors on the program or you have a time constraint regards presenting your paper, please let us know.
You should call Lutsen Resort directly (1-800-258-8736) to make your room reservation, indicating you are with the Midwest Mensurationists. Main Lodge rooms are $85.00 per day double occupancy ($75 single) plus tax and are being held until August 15, 1996. Calling early will increase your likelihood of getting a room overlooking Lake Superior. Other lodging options are available at Lutsen. Individuals may wish to work out room sharing arrangements using the list of attendees. You should also let your Lutsen reservationist know if you would like to purchase a meal plan (highly recommended as dining options near the resort are limited).
Our Tuesday evening banquet will be followed by a talk by Dr. Julius Wolff on "Shipwrecks of Lake Superior" that is sure to be a real treat.
Interest in the field trip was high. The trip leader will be Dr. Don Prettyman who is conducting biophysical inventories for a number of organizations in the Lake States. Field trip attendees will eat dinner as a group before returning to Lutsen Wednesday evening.
We are also fortunate to be joined by Dr. Sanford Weisberg, School of Statistics, University of Minnesota who will present a three hour mini-course on "Regression Graphics" based on a recent book. The course will focus on modern methods developed using the LISP-Stat package, software available free for Windows, Macintosh, and Unix computers. A course packet will be provided to each participant.
Please share information about the meeting with others that may have interest in attending. We look forward to seeing you during a beautiful fall week in the Northland.
