A block of rooms have been reserved at the Grand Traverse Resort; accommodations will be on the European plan -- meals not included in room rate. Lodging choices consist of standard guestrooms in the hotel or studio condos at the Resort's Shore complex. The hotel room rate is $109.00 per day, single or double, and the condo rate is $89.00 per day, single or double. Room rates are subject to a 6% Michigan sales tax, a 2% convention and visitors' bureau tax and a $6.50 per room daily charge to cover bell staff gratuities, housekeeping gratuities, airport shuttle, and entrance into the Spa Complex. Additionally, a $3.00 per room daily utility surcharge will apply to each room; this was necessitated by increased charges for electricity and natural gas. Group rates will apply 2 days prior to and 2 days after our meeting dates, based upon availability. Print the lodging reservation form (24k Word document) and either (1) surface mail or fax it directly to the Grand Traverse Resort or (2) phone the resort directly and reserve your accommodations. Resort mailing address, toll-free phone number, and fax number are on the lodging reservation form. If you wish to share a room with another individual, please arrange prior to sending in the room reservation form so that your roommate's name may be included on the form. The Grand Traverse Resort will not assign roommates.
Print and complete the Meeting Registration Form and return it by September 15, 2001, to avoid the late registration fee. Mail registration form and check to John Moser at the address below.
For those desiring to arrive early, you may wish to enjoy a round of golf on either of the two outstanding Grand Traverse Resort courses -- the Bear, designed by Jack Nicklaus, and Spruce Run, designed by Bill Newcomb -- please call 1-800-748-0303 ext 3674 to confirm fees and to schedule your tee time. Also, wonderful tennis courts and lessons are available for those so inclined; fees may be confirmed and court times may be reserved by calling 1-800-748-0303 and requesting the Activities Desk. To ensure available tee or court times, please call well in advance of your arrival for reservations.
Please feel free to share the program and information regarding this joint meeting with other associates that may have interest in attending. Should you have questions or wish any additional information, please contact John Moser.
Attending this year's joint Midwest Forest Mensurationists' Meeting and FIA Annual Symposium you will experience why the Traverse City area is one of the top tourists' destinations in the Midwest. It is truly "A Great Lakes Paradise" with an abundance of delightful inns and restaurants, historical sites, wineries, and the majestic beauty of Lake Michigan and Grand Traverse Bay.
Thanks to all who volunteered suggestions and submitted presentations for this year's meeting. I am looking forward to an exciting and productive meeting.
